FAQs about therapy and rehabilitation services
After your initial evaluation, depending on your plan of care and the care team member’s existing schedule you will be able to choose which care team member you would like to see.
Insurance companies often require physical therapy before an MRI because it’s generally considered a more cost-effective first step for many musculoskeletal conditions, as physical therapy can often resolve pain without the need for a pricey imaging test like an MRI, potentially saving the insurance company money in the long run. Additionally, a physical therapist can often accurately diagnose the issue through evaluation and movement analysis, making an MRI unnecessary in many cases.
Physical therapy (PT) focuses on improving physical movement and mobility, while occupational therapy (OT) focuses on helping patients perform daily activities like dressing, eating, or bathing by addressing their physical abilities within the context of their daily life. PT works on “how to move” while OT works on “how to function in daily life” with those movements.
