About Robin W. Curry
Why did you decide to go into healthcare?
I have been in healthcare in one capacity all my life. In high school, I worked for Moore Drug in Middletown. From there proceeded to get my BS and MS in Counseling to get a doctorate in Psychology. Life had other plans. I ended up going to Butler University to study pharmacy, following the footsteps of my brother. Life intervened again and I was a caregiver for my husband for 20 years before his passing and raising a family. I returned to BSU and was able to get my BSN in two years, then straight to MSN. I was a hospitalist for a year at BMH and then found my way here. The irony of becoming a nurse and NP is that my family has a very high percentage of nurses and I wanted to be “different” by going to pharmacy school. So the lesson there is never say never. I now have one daughter who is a nurse and one who is a pharmacist. I also have a cousin who followed the path to Butler. You never know who you might inspire.
Why did you chose to work at HCH?
I have worked in other counties. During those years, I missed out a lot with family activities, wasn’t able to have any sort of social life with friends and the pay was subpar. After interviewing with HCH I realized everything I needed was right here under my nose. The work-life balance was such a welcome relief. Interestingly many of the physicians I worked with in the other counties have ended up coming here to work!
