Midwife services

Certified Nurse Midwives are registered nurses with a graduate degree in midwifery. They are trained in a broad range of women’s health services, much like OB/GYNs, and serve as partners and advocates in a patient’s healthcare. Many women seek a midwife to plan a natural delivery in the comfort of a safe, fully equipped birthing center. Henry Community Health offers access to a midwife for those interested in a holistic birthing plan with minimal intervention.

Why use a midwife?

You may want a midwife if you are interested in experiencing natural childbirth with the safety net of traditional medical care. Many women appreciate the shared decision-making with a midwife who is sensitive to the many considerations of starting a family, including cultural preferences and personal values.

HCH’s midwife, Chrissy Honig, CNM, works in tandem with our OB/GYNs to coordinate your birthing plan and guide you through a comfortable, supportive pregnancy. HCH OB patients can request to talk to Chrissy at any appointment. She will assist with creating a personalized birthing plan and answer any questions related to a natural birth, then be with you during labor and delivery and provide postpartum education and support. Chrissy is also trained to recognize signs of complications.
